Ubuntu is a very peculiar African word It has so many meanings, as many as the breeds of men For to know it’s true meaning, we would have to ask one of them Of the hundred that left Africa to explore the world The Adams and Eves of our age The mothers and fathers of men
Ubuntu means that a hunter wouldn’t need to ask for food When passing by the villages of another people Cause we hunt to survive But it’s in the sharing, it’s in the kindness to each other That we actually find that precious feeling A breeze of joy A pleasure to be alive
Ubuntu means that no man is an island That we are like continents, looking to sail back Looking to unite the shores of our kingdoms To form once again the Pangaea A place with no foreigners, no rulers and no slaves Where roads connect every city and every heart And nobody see any frontier
Ubuntu means that the age of men is just a blink In the eyes of eternity That we are but a link in the web of life Billions came before us, billions are yet to pass To walk in the long plains and to climb the hills of Africa To look at the grass, and the flowers, and the trees And understand that no daylight is the same And all things float like dust in gentle wind, unbound The world goes around
Ubuntu means that no man can live in cages Be it prisons or dogmas We must look to discover, to uncover, to enlight To love and to change, to move millions with thoughts Like the Gandhis, the Mandelas, the Kings Cause this world is no kingdom for just one ruler But we are all rulers of our own lands We should exchange our knowledge and wisdom And never bullets or bombs
Ubuntu means that men should work together Walking beside, holding hands Facing the horizon like the old hunters Yet, no more to fight in the war of hunger and pain But to reach a precious trophy The prize of self-knowledge A distinct vision of the true meaning of the word
Yes, there are many breeds of men indeed And many breeds of life But we are all one, all of us Represented in so many forms, so many substances So many meanings for this one concept So many villages in the ocean of night So many hunters walking on all those waves of light So many preys waiting to be unbound Ubuntu – the world goes around

Ubuntu é uma palavra africana muito peculiar Ela tem tantos significados, tantos quanto as linhagens dos homens Pois para saber seu verdadeiro significado, precisaríamos perguntar para um deles Um dos cem que deixaram a África para explorar o mundo Os Adãos e Evas de nossa era As mães e os pais de todos nós
Ubuntu quer dizer que um caçador não precisaria pedir por comida Quando passando pelos vilarejos de outros povos Pois nós caçamos para sobreviver Mas é no compartilhar, no carinho para com cada um Que nós realmente encontramos esta sensação preciosa Uma brisa de alegria Um prazer em se estar vivo
Ubuntu quer dizer que nenhum homem é uma ilha Que somos como continentes, esperando navegar de volta Procurando unir as praias de nossos reinos Para formar uma vez mais a Pangeia Um lugar sem estrangeiros, governantes ou escravos Onde as estradas conectam cada cidade e cada coração E onde ninguém vê nenhuma fronteira
Ubuntu quer dizer que a era dos homens é tão somente um piscar Dos olhos da eternidade Que nós somos apenas um fio na teia da vida Bilhões vieram antes de nós, bilhões esperam passar Para caminhar nas longas planícies e escalar os montes da África Para olhar para a grama, e as flores, e as árvores E compreender que nenhuma luz da manhã é a mesma E que todas as coisas flutuam como poeira em brisas suaves, libertas O mundo dá voltas
Ubuntu quer dizer que nenhum homem pode viver em celas Sejam prisões ou dogmas Nós precisamos descobrir, desvelar, iluminar Amar e mudar, mover milhões com pensamentos Como os Gandhis, os Mandelas, os Kings Porque este mundo não é um reino para apenas um rei Mas todos somos os reis de nossas próprias terras Nós deveríamos trocar nosso conhecimento e sabedoria E nunca mísseis ou bombas
Ubuntu quer dizer que os homens deveriam trabalhar juntos Caminhando lado a lado, de mãos dadas Encarando o horizonte como os antigos caçadores Porém, não mais para lutar na guerra da fome e da dor Mas para alcançar um troféu precioso O prêmio do autoconhecimento Uma distinta visão do verdadeiro significado da palavra
Sim, existem realmente muitas linhagens de homens E muitas linhagens de vida Mas todos somos um, todos nós Representados em tantas formas, em tantas substâncias Tantos significados para apenas este conceito Tantos vilarejos no oceano da noite Tantos caçadores caminhando em todas essas ondas de luz Tantas presas aguardando a liberdade Ubuntu – o mundo dá voltas
